The Garuda Biodynamic impulse is carried forward by the Garuda Biodynamic Institute, which is based in the small town of Te Puke, in the Bay of Plenty region of New Zealand. Garuda Institute is primarily focused on developing the agricultural work of the turn of the century German philosopher, Dr Rudolf Steiner. The Garuda BD Institutues founder', Glen Atkinson, began working with Dr Steiners indications from the time he came to New Zealand from Australia in 1976. The Institute has been mostly focused towards developing Steiners Biodynamic agriculture and medical indications, using traditional Astrological understandings to develop a simple yet innovative theory and philosophy as a basis for many practical activities. This website is dedicated to the dissemination of many of these applications. The 'Online Books' section contains four books outlining the basis of the world view used in the development of the homeopathic essences system outlined in the Biodynamic Services section. The 'Pictures' section provides images that summarise many of the chapter in the books.

Why
Garuda?
Garuda is a Hindu god, who as an incarnated EAGLE manifestation of the primary
god Vishnu. He performs several essential functions in life.
In India he is represented as a protector of the godly and all that is good
for life.
In Indonesia he is represented as the Eagle who carries Vishnu to the Earth,
thus he is "Bringing Spirit to Earth".
The Eagle also represents the ability to fly high and gain a far seeing vision
, or large overview perspective of Life, while being able to also see the specific
details of the environment.
This last quality I see mirrored in a suggestion by Rudolf Steiner (RS)
"... when we want to understand the plant, we must bring into question not only plant animal and human life, but the whole universe. For life comes from the whole universe not only the Earth. These three images fit very well with the approach you will find presented on this site. By looking at the very large picture of Creation we can gain an image of some of the basic laws of manifestation which become manifest so wonderfully in living forms here on Earth. By using them then to interpret manifest form we can find a 'living' approach to being on planet Earth.
This site is many things and one of its main ambitions is as a work of Art. In all its aspects, from its theories to the products and services which have arisen from them, to the pages supporting the significant practical realisation of the Garuda Biodynamic approach; they are an expression of an artist somewhat more than of a scientist. It is here to be seen as it is, to be met by the viewer in your own individual way. Some people may question wether this sites' contents are complete fiction or contain something of significance for life on Earth. This question can only be asked adequately of Art, if both approaches are to be correct, which as you will see they can be. Either way we hope you enjoy your visit, and tell your friends to call by.
